A wreck on the eastern reef slope
Pirates Diving Resort places East Tangat Gunboat on the east side of Tangat Island, describing a wreck on a sloping coral reef. It reports a shallow section at 3 m and a maximum depth of 22 m.
The KISS Diving account repeats much of that description. Similar wording should not be counted as independent confirmation of every detail.
Names and measurements remain under review
Sangat Island Dive Resort separately describes a Sangat Sub Chaser on the east side of its island with a 3–18 m range. This review has not settled whether all of these names and measurements refer to the identical wreck and route. Confirm the intended wreck by location as well as its local name.
The 3–22 m values are retained as one operator’s description, not precise limits for every outing. Original vessel names, tonnage and the circumstances of sinking remain unconfirmed in this guide.
Confirm the intended dive
Ask the operator to identify the wreck and planned exterior route, including depth and pickup arrangements. A shallow bow does not establish suitability for entering a wreck. Present current, visibility and activity-specific experience requirements still need a local briefing.
Depth reports differ
The Two Seasons Pawikan menu lists this wreck at 3–19 m, while the other operator account above reports 22 m as the maximum. These are differing site descriptions, not interchangeable dive plans. The exact maximum is marked disputed; ask the operator conducting your dive to confirm the intended route and conditions.
A source with mixed location and condition wording
MDI Divers describes a hull leaning to starboard on a sandy slope, with its stern at 22 m. Its location line says southwest Tangat, whereas the other account above places the wreck to the east. This directional conflict remains unresolved; it is not a basis for moving the map point or choosing a boat approach.
The same MDI page promotes shallow-water access but lists currents ranging from mild to strong. Its broad beginner recommendation therefore should not be read as a promise of mild conditions. Ask about the conditions for the actual visit and the part of the wreck being offered.
Exterior details reported by the operator
MDI reports soft and hard corals on the wreck, larger lettuce corals beside it, and angelfish, butterflyfish and white sponges. These observations describe the exterior's interest without establishing an encounter rate. Its uncertainty between a tugboat and an anti-submarine craft remains an attributed identification claim, not a confirmed original vessel name.
Rocksteady’s October 2019 account additionally reports groupers, batfish and crocodilefish around East Tangat. These dated exterior observations add subjects to discuss with a guide, without confirming present abundance or supporting the same page’s disputed vessel-name and wreck-entry claims.
