Know this? Tell usAbout This Dive Site
Mantigue Island lies off Camiguin and has several reef and wall diving areas. PADI's named island page, contributed by Mantangale Alibuag Dive Resort, describes a fringing reef with shallow sections and deeper walls. It lists jacks and barracudas among schooling fish, with turtles, rays, nudibranchs and shrimp among other reported wildlife. These are contributor descriptions of the island's diving, not guaranteed encounters at every sanctuary entry. PADI's displayed maximum depth is 30 metres. Its listed entry options include boat and shore/beach, without identifying a single universal access point. A site-wide maximum beyond these advertised routes remains unverified.
Different published dive profiles
Operators also describe their own excursion profiles: Scuba de Oro lists a 5–30 metre dive range, while Camiguin Freediving describes gradual slopes leading to a drop-off reaching 30 metres. These advertised experiences do not establish the deepest point around the island, or define the depth of every wall section. Scuba de Oro also distinguishes the underwater reef visit from time on the island's beaches and nature park, which may interest companions who are not diving. Scuba de Oro locates Mantigue about 3.5 kilometres off Camiguin and describes hard and soft corals, turtles and occasional blacktip reef sharks. The operator also calls the island Magsaysay Island. These are the operator’s reported possibilities, not assured encounters. Confirm the intended route and the activities included in your own booking.
One diver's Mantigue observations
In her named Mantigue section, Aleah Taboclaon's Solitary Wanderer account describes two dives with a reported maximum depth of 18 metres, visibility of 15 metres and bottom time of 43 minutes. These are her logged observations, not site-wide averages. She describes a large turtle sheltering in a shallow recess in the wall, and sightings of ribbon eels, a small nudibranch, trumpetfish, pufferfish, boxfish, parrotfish and frogfish. Her account distinguishes those observations from animals she says visitors might see. It should not be read as a wildlife checklist guaranteed on every trip.
The same writer recounts an aggressive triggerfish encounter; her divemaster attributed its behavior to protecting eggs. That is a specific incident and explanation, not evidence that all triggerfish here behave identically. The author also describes a 45-minute boat journey for her Mantigue outing. Departure point, boat and conditions affect travel time, so it is not a fixed transfer duration for every operator. Her report places the dives during a December visit but does not provide an exact dive date in the reviewed section. The writer’s visibility figure describes that visit, not a forecast.
