Life along the face and ledges

Philippine Fun Divers places its Rico’s Wall outing on southwest Balicasag and describes both soft and hard corals. Its fish account includes schooling bigeye trevally, midnight snappers and sweetlips. Seaquest describes surgeonfish and anthias along the coral-covered wall, and large groupers around 20–30 m. The grouper depth is a reported wildlife setting, not a new minimum depth for visiting the site or a promise that fish will be present at a particular ledge.

Seaquest’s ledges and caverns, together with the crevices described by Fun Divers, add detail about the wall’s surface. They do not establish surveyed passages, safe penetration routes or an overhead-diving itinerary. A useful distinction when discussing the outing is whether it follows the exposed face or concentrates on the reef top. The Fun Divers table describes the top as very shallow with relatively few corals, while the richer coral description concerns the wall itself.

The operator’s shallow-wall emphasis

Fun Divers identifies approximately 10 m as the most interesting part of its route. It describes alternatives travelling in either direction along the wall, rather than one mandatory circuit. Its published transfer is roughly 30 minutes by banca from Alona Beach, around 11.5 km away. Its visibility estimate is 15–30 m, compared with Seaquest’s 15–40 m. These figures describe advertised outings, not measured conditions for a future trip. The useful booking question is which face and depth band the operator intends to visit under the Rico’s Wall name, rather than assuming the broader Sanctuary label guarantees a particular route.
