This listing describes the reef beside Lusong Gunboat. Experience Coron names Lusong Coral Garden as a separate snorkeling stop adjacent to the wreck. The Two Seasons Pawikan dive menu also lists the reef separately from the gunboat. These accounts support the Lusong association, but this partial guide does not establish an exact entry point or verified map pin.

Confirm which coral garden you are visiting

Confirm that your booking includes Lusong Coral Garden rather than only the gunboat. Sangat Island Dive Resort describes its own Coral Gardens, so a booking described simply as Coral Garden needs a location check. Similar names do not establish that these are the same reef.

Reported depth and planning

The Pawikan menu gives Lusong Coral Garden a range of 0–15 m. This is an operator-reported range, not a surveyed boundary or a recommended dive profile. The earlier listing contained conflicting maximum depths; its unsupported 20 m value should not be used to plan a dive. Confirm the actual route, tide, entry arrangements and suitability with the operator conducting your visit.

What remains unknown

These sources describe coral and fish in general terms. They do not establish reliable species encounter frequencies, present reef condition, visibility, currents or year-round water temperatures. This partial guide makes no promise of turtle or eagle-ray sightings. Current fees and access arrangements also need confirmation.

Where third-party accounts place the reef

Snorkeling Report's spot page, last updated 10 January 2021, places Lusong Coral Garden along the west coast of Lusong Island and describes a narrow coral reef bordering the island's southwest coast, at most about 30 m wide, ending in a steep drop-off into the blue. It says visitors enter the water from the boat at the edge of the reef, lists the maximum depth as about 5 m on the reef, rates the spot as intermediate and notes that moderate currents can occur even in good sea conditions. Journey Era's travel article, last updated 16 January 2025, likewise describes a reef just around the corner from the Lusong Gunboat with coral growing up and down a drop-off wall, and places both the wreck and the coral garden on the southwest side of Busuanga, much further from Coron Town than Coron Island.

How visits are organised

Snorkeling Report says many Coron boat tours stop here on all-day itineraries that also include the Lusong Gunboat, Pass Island or Calumbuyan Island, and that Sangat Island Dive Resort runs snorkeling tours with a stop at the Coral Garden. Journey Era describes a helpful current that pushes snorkelers along the shelf when the boat drops them at the right spot, and reports that dive boats and snorkel groups visit daily even though most island-hopping tours do not come this far. Snorkeling Report's 2021 page names anemonefish, butterflyfish, angelfish and giant clams as possible sightings; these are dated visitor accounts, not surveys.

Neighbouring reef names

Sangat Island Dive Resort's reef page describes a two-kilometre Lusong Reef along the south-western edge of Lusong Island whose southern tip reaches Lusong Bay near the Lusong Gunboat, and Rocksteady Dive Center lists a Lusong Reef stretching north from the Lusong wreck for around two sea miles. Whether those reef descriptions and the snorkel stop called Lusong Coral Garden cover the same ground is not established here. Pirates Diving Center lists a Coral Garden at 5 to 20 m and Scubago carries a Busuanga listing named Coral Garden, but neither states which coral garden it describes, so they are not used for depth or position in this guide.
