About This Dive Site

A named wall and reef

Capt’n Gregg’s identifies Dungon Wall as a wall-and-reef site. The name also appears in the official lists from La Laguna Beach Club and Atlantis.

Depth references need a route

La Laguna Beach Club gives a 27 m reference; Capt’n Gregg’s lists an 8–30 m profile. Those entries do not establish a single surveyed minimum, maximum or average. The older 10–35 m range remains unverified.

When arranging a dive, ask which wall section the operator means, the planned depth and whether any nearby wreck is part of that particular route. A wreck reference is not enough to establish its identity or justify entering it.

Before booking

Confirm required experience and current conditions with the dive team. Capt’n Gregg’s labels its route advanced, which should not be silently replaced by the older intermediate classification. Visibility, temperature, seasonal reliability and species encounter rates have not been independently established for this guide.

A wall route recorded in 2023

Michael McFadyen’s account of his 2023 Sabang trip describes a steep slope giving way to a wall, with a slope continuing beyond the wall’s end. His dive travelled along part of the face around 24 m before returning gradually shallower. He described deeper terrain extending beyond 35 m, but that observation does not turn his own route into a surveyed maximum for the whole site.

The account gives a useful distinction between seeing the wall and following it as deep as the terrain allows. Ask the operator which portion is intended and whether the outing will focus on the face or continue toward another feature. The visit does not establish that the entire wall must be covered to enjoy the site.

Attached life on the wall

McFadyen reports two pygmy seahorses on a gorgonian near the beginning of his route. Elsewhere he observed featherstars, nudibranchs, anemonefish and moray eels. He identified one school as small chevron barracuda but left another school unidentified. These are historical observations, not a present census or a promise of resident seahorses.

For that September visit, he reported water at 29°C and visibility near 20 m. Those observations describe one outing, not expected conditions for another booking.

A separately described wreck extension

Casalay’s Dungon Wall section describes a coral-covered slope and wall, followed farther down by a sailing catamaran at about 28 m. Its description of fish between two keels is a more specific planning lead than an unnamed wreck reference. It does not establish the vessel’s name, sinking date or structural condition. Confirm whether that feature is included in the planned outing; a wall dive and a wreck extension should not be treated as interchangeable.
