About This Dive Site

Keep the current Olympia listing distinct

The Two Seasons Pawikan menu lists Olympia Maru as formerly Tangat and separately lists Morazan as formerly Olympia. Sangat Island Dive Resort makes the same distinction in its naming notes. Historical use of Olympia therefore cannot, by itself, identify which present-day wreck a source or booking refers to.

Depth descriptions do not agree

Pirates Diving Resort reports a 28–30 m maximum range and an 18–24 m deck level. Pawikan lists 30–31 m. Sangat describes an overall 18–30 m range while its table gives 27 m. The maximum is marked disputed; the deck measurements are separate structural observations.

Confirm the named wreck and route

Use the current wreck name and location when arranging your outing, particularly if an older itinerary uses Tangat or Olympia differently. Ask which exterior features are planned, their depths and the experience required for current conditions.

Limits of this partial review

This guide does not resolve historical vessel specifications, present visibility, current strength or species encounter rates. Conflicting orientation and depth passages in other operator material are not combined into one definitive description. Reports of cargo holds do not establish safe access or suitability for wreck entry.

A dated view of the wreck

Dive3D identifies its subject as Olympia Maru, also called Tangat Wreck, and dates the scanning dive to 28 September 2025. The page includes a model that helps distinguish the hull's overall shape from the many similarly named historical descriptions. Its author reports a deformed upper deck and masts that are no longer straight. Those are attributed observations of this recorded wreck, not confirmation that every older account using the name Olympia refers to the same ship.

Keep the model's depth context

Dive3D places the wreck at about 32 m while describing a main-deck range of 18–24 m. These are different structural references and add to the unresolved maximum-depth accounts above. The model is a useful visual reference, but a recording made in 2025 does not verify today's access, visibility or structural condition. Its existence does not convert a described opening into a suitable entry route.

Published descriptions need careful comparison

MDI's Olympia page itself describes the vessel both on its side and upright, and gives more than one depth figure. Its generic beginner-friendly wording therefore should not override a current operator's assessment. This guide retains the naming and measurement uncertainty instead of combining incompatible passages into a single apparently precise profile. When enquiring, share the exact wreck listing or model page as well as the name, so the discussion starts from the same intended vessel.

Wildlife around the wreck's features

Sangat Island Dive Resort reports banana fish, batfish and puffers around Olympia's bow, stern and mast areas. The named features give context to its wildlife account without prescribing a route. These are operator reports, not dated sightings, a reliable encounter rate or confirmation of the features' present condition.
