PADI lists the entry type for Sahara as both boat and shore, however, for Sahara Deep, only shore entry is mentioned. While the main description says Sahara is often split into two dives, Sahara Deep and Sahara Shallow, the listed entry type 'mixed' for the site overall is not explicitly supported as Sahara Deep is cited as 'Shore' entry. Welcome to Dauin, Philippines: World-Class Diving in the Heart of the Coral Triangle also says that many dive sites in Dauin can be accessed by shore or boat, but does not explicitly state Sahara's entry type.

PADI explicitly lists the entry type for the Sahara dive site as both 'Boat, Shore'. This directly supports 'mixed' as an accurate entry type for the site. The refutation's claim that 'mixed' is not explicitly supported due to Sahara Deep being cited as 'Shore' entry is flawed, as Sahara Deep is a distinct, albeit nearby, dive site from Sahara itself. Furthermore, the description of Sahara often being split into 'Sahara Deep and Sahara Shallow' (as mentioned in the site record and PADI) does not negate the overall entry type for the main Sahara site. Other general sources for Dauin also indicate that many sites can be accessed by both boat and shore.

Sand, small habitats and an unresolved name
Sahara is a Dauin coastal dive described through sand, artificial reef material and patches of coral. The name needs care when arranging a trip: published operators distinguish Sahara, Sahara Reef and Sahara Deep, but the boundaries between those descriptions have not been established for this guide. Confirm the named section and intended entry with your operator rather than assuming every feature belongs to one route.
What the Sahara descriptions support
Dauin Diving Center describes sandy slopes alongside coral gardens and artificial habitats made from tyres, cars and bottles. Its wildlife account includes blennies and octopuses around the structures, garden eels and gobies on the sand, and ghost pipefish, frogfish and seahorses around coral. These are attributed reports, not a checklist of animals expected on every dive. The small habitats help explain why a visit may focus on individual patches rather than a continuous coral reef.
The operator lists shore entry and a 27 m maximum for its Sahara outing. Separately, the member-contributed PADI Sahara page describes searching around cement blocks and bottles, with an artificial reef to the north; it places Sahara Deep to the south and lists both boat and shore access. These accounts do not settle the guide's existing entry and identity uncertainty. PADI credits Bongo Bongo Divers and Liquid Dive Dumaguete, so its listing is not an independent field survey.
Features specifically reported at Sahara Deep
Liquid Dive Dumaguete's named Sahara Deep section describes heading offshore around 18 m, a small boat near 25 m and a Mustang chassis near 30 m. La Tortue also places a Mustang and speedboat in its Sahara Deep entry. Those reports explain the appeal of the deeper outing, but they should not be advertised as guaranteed stops on a booking simply called Sahara. Nor do they identify this route as Dauin's separately listed Cars dive.
Before choosing your outing
Tell the operator whether your priority is searching the sand, exploring artificial habitats or visiting the deeper wreck features. Ask which of those the proposed route actually includes, its planned depth and whether the entry is from the beach or a boat. Published maximum depths from differently named outings are not interchangeable personal depth limits. This review does not establish a reliable temperature range, seasonal visibility or wildlife encounter rate for the chosen section; the page's unknown and disputed fields remain relevant.
