About This Dive Site
Secret Corner is a named muck-diving site on the Dauin coast of Negros Oriental. Dauin Diving Center describes a sandy slope, while the operator map entry for Punta describes sand and patches of rubble.
This guide uses Atlantis's published Punta map point. Atlantis and DivePhotoGuide identify Punta as Secret Corner; DivePhotoGuide also links the name Bonnets Corner. These names are not counted as separate dive sites here. The mapped point has not been surveyed or verified by a local diver for this guide and is not a confirmed entry or navigation waypoint. Exact site boundaries and local naming remain unconfirmed.
This partial guide keeps uncertain conditions explicit. Depth limits, current strength, visibility, access arrangements and seasonal conditions are not established here. Source descriptions warn that currents can be strong; confirm the intended site, tide and suitable dive plan with a local operator. Wildlife descriptions are not a guarantee of sightings.
A dive focused on the smaller subjects
Bongo Bongo describes rocks and pebbles scattered across the sandy slope, while DDC emphasizes its contrast with coral-reef diving. The main attraction in these accounts is looking for small animals rather than expecting a broad reef panorama. Bongo Bongo reports blue-ringed, mimic, wonderpus and mototi octopuses, plus hairy and warty frogfish. DDC adds coconut octopus, flamboyant cuttlefish and other macro subjects. These are attributed operator reports, not evidence of recent sightings or guaranteed encounters.
Timing and depth need a specific plan
DDC lists shore entry and a 20 m maximum; Bongo Bongo publishes an 18 m maximum. These descriptions do not establish one surveyed boundary, and they have not been converted into a definitive whole-site depth. Both operators warn about current. Bongo Bongo specifically advises checking timing around slack water with the divemaster; this guide supplies no tidal timetable or safe-entry prediction.
Season advice is not a sighting forecast
Bongo Bongo recommends October to February for Secret Corner. That is one operator's recommendation, not a measured visibility season or a species encounter calendar. DDC also describes night diving here. Ask whether the proposed daytime or night outing matches your experience and the current conditions; a name on an itinerary does not settle those details.
A named visitor account from Punta
Tiani Dun's June 2026 article for Atlantis explicitly calls Punta Secret Corner. The account describes black sand and reports blue-ringed, algae and wonderpus octopuses during one dive. Dun emphasizes buoyancy control to avoid stirring up the sediment while observing small subjects. The report adds a specific visit to the broader operator descriptions; its sightings are not an encounter rate, and the publication month does not establish the exact dive date.
