The Hill

About This Dive Site
A small reef with sponges and corals
Action Divers describes The Hill as a small reef with basket sponges, elephant-ear corals and reef fish. Its page lists a 12 m maximum and a novice-and-above skill label. La Laguna Beach Club also gives a 12 m depth reference.
Ask about the intended reef section
Capt’n Gregg’s instead lists a 12–16 m profile. These references do not establish a single maximum for all routes. Action Divers recommends slack tide; the actual timing and suitability need to come from the operator planning your outing.
Evidence limits
The earlier 5 m minimum is not established by these sources. Confirm entry and pickup arrangements, expected current and experience requirements. The reef description is not a recent condition survey, and fish sightings, visibility and temperature are not guaranteed.
Small subjects named in the chart
Capt'n Gregg's Hill entry lists nudibranchs, octopus and pink coral in its public-source highlights. These add named subjects to the broader sponge-and-reef account. The colour description is not a coral species identification, and the list establishes neither recent sightings nor a reliable encounter rate.
The shallow summit and surrounding sand
Casalay’s named Hill section provides an additional profile: a summit around 5 metres, sloping in several directions to sand around 15 metres, with scattered hard coral beyond the upper coral-and-sponge cover. Its heading gives 5–18 metres. This supports a shallow summit in that operator’s itinerary, updating the earlier evidence limitation above; it does not settle the maximum for every route.
Casalay places the reef between three islands but also warns that current can be strong when the tide is poorly timed. Shelter in its geographical description therefore does not promise slack water. Its subjects include seahorses, frogfish, ghost pipefish and morays. Around dusk, it reports mandarinfish emerging among fire corals, together with shrimp, crabs and brittle stars. Those observations give a distinct reason to discuss a dusk outing with the dive team, without promising mating behaviour or a particular sighting. The page does not give observation dates or counts for those animals.
Its longer subject list specifically includes flamboyant cuttlefish, blue-ringed and mimic octopus. These remain operator-reported possibilities, without a verified encounter frequency. Large green tree corals and soft-coral fields are also described, complementing the scattered hard coral on the sandy lower part of that account.
Garden of Eden’s Hill entry also describes a 5-metre summit and gives a 15-metre maximum. It markets the outing to intermediate and advanced divers, whereas Casalay labels its version beginner. Different operator categories are not a universal certification rule. Ask which route and conditions explain the proposed level before booking.
