Coral Cove

About This Dive Site
A cove for close observation
Capt’n Gregg’s presents Coral Cove as a reef and macro-diving location. Atlantis lists Coral Cove separately on its Puerto Galera site map, supporting the named identity.
The Capt’n Gregg’s chart gives a 10–24 m profile and a range of experience levels. Treat these as one operator’s route description, not a surveyed boundary or confirmation that every part suits a beginner.
Choosing the route
Tell the operator whether you want a slow photography dive or a broader reef visit, then confirm the planned depth, entry and pickup arrangements, and required experience. Ask what has actually been observed recently before planning around a particular animal.
What remains uncertain
Neither source establishes present visibility, temperature or reliable encounter frequencies. The previous 5–25 m listing has not been reconciled with the operator’s profile. This guide preserves that uncertainty rather than combining the two into a new range. No navigation coordinates have been derived from the stylised maps.
Reported macro subjects
Capt'n Gregg's Coral Cove entry names ribbon eels, frogfish, cuttlefish, nudibranchs and pygmy seahorses in its public-source highlights. The generic seahorse label is not a species identification. The list gives subjects to ask about, while recent sightings, precise locations and encounter frequency remain unverified.
Slope, wall and sand subjects
Tom Isgar’s Advanced Diver Magazine account of a January 2011 visit includes a Coral Cove description credited to Atlantis. It distinguishes the slope’s whip corals and sea fans from the small wall and its overhangs. Reported subjects around those overhangs include juvenile emperor fish, pipefish and orangutan crabs in bubble coral. The account also mentions pufferfish, blue-spotted stingrays and banded sea snakes. These are historical descriptions of different parts of the dive, rather than an inventory of animals currently occupying the reef.
Isgar separately reports finding three thorny seahorses in the sand. That dated first-person observation is more specific than a general seahorse listing, but it is not evidence of a permanent group or a reliable place to relocate them. His article gives a 15–25 m profile for Coral Cove. This remains a separate historical route description alongside the other published ranges, without replacing the site’s stored depths.
A multilevel reef visit
Casalay describes the slope ending at a small wall around 20 m, with overhangs sheltering fish. Its named Coral Cove section adds electric clams to the reported subjects. This gives a concrete distinction between searching along the slope and viewing the wall’s recesses. The terrain descriptions support a multilevel outing, but neither account supplies an independently verified track or the locations of individual animals. For a photography visit, the useful choice is which of those habitats the operator intends to cover, rather than expecting every listed subject on one dive.
