Turtle Rock

About This Dive Site
A rock feature below Sinandigan Wall
Action Divers describes a large rock at the bottom of Sinandigan Wall, named for its resemblance to a turtle shell. The name is not evidence of a turtle aggregation or reliable sightings.
Resolve the intended depth
Action Divers lists a 42 m maximum and an advanced-and-above skill level. La Laguna Beach Club gives a broader 5–45 m range for Turtle Rock. These may describe different route extents; they do not establish that the rock itself can be visited at the shallow end of that range.
Plan with the dive team
Confirm the exact feature, planned depth, training requirements and current conditions with the operator. A shallow number in a route listing is not evidence that the full dive suits a beginner. Precise entry coordinates, current visibility, temperature and wildlife encounter rates remain unverified.
Coral and fish in the rock's description
Capt'n Gregg's Turtle Rock account names gorgonian fans and whip corals, with sweetlips, emperor angelfish and nudibranchs among its reported animals. These details add habitat and viewing subjects to the rock description. They are not a recent survey, a guarantee of sightings or evidence that the deep feature suits a particular diver.
The name and the return toward the wall
Capt’n Gregg’s detailed prose and PuertoParrot’s directory entry give another explanation for the name: a turtle-shaped surface rock used as a marker. That differs from the underwater-shape explanation attributed to Action Divers above. Similar wording in these accounts does not establish independent confirmation, and the name’s origin remains unresolved. PuertoParrot describes a return up the slope toward Sinandigan Wall and recommends flood tide. This is an attributed route description, not a tide calculation or a complete plan for a deep dive.
A visitor account published November 21, 2015 under the name rubberboa123 describes a less ideal outing. The writer reports rough surface water, poor underwater visibility and a descent to 139 feet, approximately 42.4 metres, before moving along the slope toward Sinandigan Wall. That number describes the writer’s dive, not a measured maximum for Turtle Rock. The account is useful evidence of one trip’s conditions; it does not establish seasonal visibility or a usual wave height.
The writer’s favourable comments about nudibranchs and soft corals refer to the later wall section. They should not be reassigned to the deep rock or treated as a current wildlife survey. The writer also declined a second dive because of the rough surface and poor visibility. That dated experience illustrates why the actual day’s briefing matters more than an appealing site name.
The same account says the boat moved to calmer water after dropping the divers, making pickup arrangements another concrete point to confirm.
