A sandy-bottomed bay sheltered by a small islet, Crystal Bay is Penida’s main reliable site for the seasonal mola mola (ocean sunfish), which rise from the deep cold water in July–October to be cleaned by bannerfish. Dramatic thermoclines and the well-known south-side downcurrent make this an advanced site despite the easy entry.
