Forest

About This Dive Site
Forest takes its name from the dense stands of fern-like black coral that thicken down its reef slope — an underwater forest that begins around 8 m and grows more abundant with depth. Gorgonians carpet the shallows before the reef drops from about 9 m toward a sandy shelf, and a large overhang/cave at roughly 23 m shelters green morays and resting turtles. Tame, diver-habituated fish and cleaning stations make it a favourite of photographers, while jacks, groupers and the occasional passing tarpon or nurse shark patrol the blue. Boat access only, inside the Bonaire National Marine Park.
