About This Dive Site

A dive built around an oddity: the channel where Cargill's salt-pond outflow meets the Caribbean. Divers enter over flat rocks in the outflow cut beneath the road and glide onto a wide sandy apron — roughly 70 m of white bottom that works as a hunting ground for eagle rays, stingrays and flounder — before the reef proper picks up around 6 m and slopes to a steeper drop toward the north. Brown chromis cloud the mid-water over healthy mixed hard and soft coral; fire-coral stands along the swim-out demand good buoyancy. When the outflow gates are open the channel can push — time the entry and it's an easy, characterful dive.
