A cargo wreck with construction-material features
MDI Divers describes Kogyo Maru as a cargo wreck near Lusong, resting on its starboard side. Pirates Diving Resort describes construction materials within the vessel. These are accounts of the wreck's character, not confirmation that any particular compartment is accessible on a present-day visit.
Maximum and average are different claims
MDI reports a 34 m maximum and a 28 m average. Pirates also lists a 34 m maximum, but gives an average of 24–26 m. The Two Seasons Pawikan menu lists 33–34 m. The 34 m maximum remains an attributed operator claim, now disputed by the additional account below; the average-depth disagreement is also unresolved.
Choose a route with the operator
Ask which exterior features are included and what depths the intended route reaches. A hull-level measurement or an average from another itinerary is not a minimum depth or a suggested profile. Confirm the current briefing and required experience with the team conducting the dive.
Remaining uncertainty
This partial guide does not establish reliable wildlife frequency, present visibility or interior structural condition. Reported vessel lengths differ across operator material and are not resolved here. Descriptions of cargo do not imply permission or suitability for wreck entry.
Why the dimensions vary
Dive3D explicitly discusses published vessel lengths ranging from 128 to 158 m. Its model author reports a photogrammetric measurement of 157 m maximum length, 150 m at the waterline and 20 m width. Maximum length and waterline length are different measurements, so they should not be treated as interchangeable specifications. These figures are attributed to that model-making project; this guide has not independently validated its scale or matched every historical dimension to a surviving feature.
A new account of the wreck's depth
The Dive3D page places the wreck in 36 m of water, compared with the 34 m maximum in the earlier operator accounts. No common tidal reference or matching survey boundary is established in these sources. The maximum-depth field is therefore now disputed, while the original 34 m claim remains visible with its supporting sources. The conflicting average-depth reports remain a separate unresolved question.
Hull life and the cargo-ship story
MDI describes coral growth on the hull and reports batfish, groupers and nudibranchs among the animals around it. Dive3D's historical account lists construction and logistical equipment in the wartime cargo. Those histories and operator observations explain two different interests in the wreck: its supply role and the habitat that later developed on it. They do not establish the present condition or accessibility of individual cargo items, nor provide wildlife encounter probabilities.
Construction equipment in the cargo account
Sangat Island Dive Resort names a cement mixer and bulldozer in its description of Kogyo Maru's cargo holds. These specific reported items add detail to the construction-supply history. The account does not confirm their current condition or accessibility, and mentioning a hold's contents does not recommend entering it.

Decompression obligation
Severity: Not yet documentedAn earlier listing asserted a decompression obligation. This source review does not establish a universal obligation, gas mixture or bottom time; these depend on the actual dive plan.
Depth
Severity: Not yet documentedMDI and Pirates report a 34 m maximum, while their average-depth reports differ. Confirm the intended profile; no fixed bottom time or decompression requirement is established here.
Overhead environment
Severity: Not yet documentedOperator accounts describe interior passages or compartments. These descriptions do not establish current access, structural condition or suitability for entry; confirm the planned environment and required experience with the operator.
Sharp metal
Severity: Not yet documentedEarlier listing reports sharp metal. The specific condition and severity have not been corroborated in this source review; confirm the current briefing with the operator.
Silting
Severity: Not yet documentedEarlier listing reports silting. The specific condition and severity have not been corroborated in this source review; confirm the current briefing with the operator.
