Dive Site Features

• Pinnacle and Wall: Nudi Rock is primarily a pinnacle dive site, featuring a dramatic underwater landscape. The north side plunges as a steep vertical wall, adorned with an unrivaled collection of soft corals, sea fans, and sponges in every imaginable color.
• Southern Plateau: On the south side, the reef ascends to a captivating plateau, typically found at a depth of approximately 7 to 8 meters. This shallower area is often bathed in rich light, highlighting the dense soft coral growth.
• Eastern Sandy Floor: To the east, the reef gently slopes down to a sandy floor, reaching depths of around 25 meters, where divers can often encounter schooling pelagics.
• Coral Gardens: Throughout the dive site, divers will find extensive and healthy coral gardens, brimming with life.

Marine Life

Nudi Rock is a hotspot for both macro enthusiasts and pelagic lovers. Divers can expect to encounter an astonishing array of species:

• Pelagic Encounters: Keep an eye out for impressive schools of Chevron Barracuda (Sphyraena qenie), hunting Giant Trevally (Caranx ignobilys), and the majestic Grey Reef Shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos). We might even be fortunate enough to spot the occasional Giant Oceanic Manta Ray (Mobula birostris), sometimes visiting cleaning stations.
• Reef Dwellers: The vibrant reefs are home to beautiful Oriental Sweetlips (Plectorhinchus vittatus) and a myriad of other reef fish like snappers, groupers, and Napoleon wrasse.

• Depth: While the site features a plateau at 7-8 meters, the typical dive profile involves exploring depths between 18 and 25 meters, with a maximum depth of 28 meters.
• Water Temperature: The water temperature in Misool is consistently warm, averaging between 26°C and 28°C, making for comfortable diving conditions year-round.
• Certification Required: Due to the challenging conditions and depth, an Advanced Open Water certification or equivalent is required to dive Nudi Rock.
• Hazards: The primary hazards at this dive site are the strong currents and potential for deeper excursions along the wall.
